Morning Motivation to Wake up & Workout

Hey guys!

Working out in the morning can be hard to do...especially if you're not a morning person & the idea of it seems impossible to you. But, let it be known...it IS possible and you CAN do it.

You just have to alter some of your current habits that prevent you from being able to conquer the active AM lifestyle.

The benefits that come with working out first thing in the morning are undeniable. I can attest to this because I'm a morning mover & have been for years now. After my morning workout, I almost always end up feeling super driven & focused to conquer my day, I'm in the best mood thanks to the post-workout high, and I have a stupid amount of energy all day long.

I want everyone to feel like a badass, so here are my 8 tips that you can take & use to make AM workouts your actuality.

Tip #1. Set your clothes out the night before.

I HIGHLY recommend this. Putting your workout wardrobe together the night before is 1...inspiring, and 2...a masterful way to send signals to your brain that you ARE getting up in the morning to workout. It's instilled in your mind, so you'll wake up remembering that you made that commitment the night before.

Tip #2. Have a BOMB post-workout brekkie waiting for ya.

Let's just call it how it is—food can be the ultimate motivator. We're human—we dig our daily bread. So, what better way to motivate yourself to workout in the AM hours than to have a glorious breakfast waiting for you upon your return?! Make the promise to yourself that the only way you get to devour its goodness is if you get your workout in. Even if you have to write that promise to yourself on a sticky note & stick it to your post-workout fuel, or whatever your way of keeping that promise to yourself looks like—do it!

Tip #3. Set your alarm(s) & keep it more than arms' reach.

Whatever your means may be for setting your alarm...your phone, alarm clock, etc.—keep that device far enough away from where you sleep so that you physically have to get up in order to turn it off. That gets you up & moving...so with that trick alone, you've already won half the battle. Physically getting out of bed is almost always the biggest struggle of it all; we just want "5 more minutes". I can't speak for everyone, but as for myself...can't say I would want those 5 more minutes with an alarm going off the whole time. UP YA GO!

Tip #4. Label your alarms.

This might sound super corny, but labeling my alarms with a motivational quote or phrase totally helps me get up and out of bed. It helps me wake up with a get after it' mindset.

"Get up...you never regret a workout"...my go-to.

Tip #5. Plan your workout in advance & look at it the night before.

The reason for planning your workouts ahead of time is pretty obvious...to prevent you from walking around the gym aimlessly trying to figure out what to do. But looking at it the night before, especially if it's something you enjoy, can get you inspired and excited to get up the following morning to go do it!

Tip #6. Turn up the tunes.

Have a bangin' playlist to throw on while you get dressed and ready to go workout. It's good for you mood, your mind, and your soul!

Tip #7. Know your WHY.

Remind yourself WHY you need to get your workout in. Think about the benefits of getting it done first thing in the morning, reflect on the goals you set for your fitness, and how INCREDIBLE you'll feel after. Knowing your why is critical for all things life.

Tip #8. Go to bed earlier, more consistently.

Getting into a routine of going to bed earlier, and around the same time every night will help your body adjust to waking up earlier...probably pretty obvious. But, that's what you have to do if you want to consistency workout in the morning and get the most out of your workout.

Waking up early can totally suck, but it only sucks until you keep at it and realize how AMAZING it feels! Think about it—you'll be done with your workout before a lot of people are even out of bed! You'll start your day in a great mood because you'll have released endorphins AKA, your happy hormones, you'll have so much more energy throughout your day—which will make you more productive, and you won't have to worry about work or any other day-time tasks getting in the way of you & your daily burn because ya already DID THE DANG THANG.

The hardest part is getting started. But once you push yourself past not wanting to get up, or whatever else is holding you back, that'll all be swapped with excitement for the new lifestyle you'll be thriving off of! Just put your mind to it & commit, believe in yourself, forgive yourself if you miss a morning every now and then, and continue to make strides toward the morning mortal you strive to be!
